Music 4 Mini Maestros Colourstrings Music School was set up in 2000 by Heather Drysdale. Heather is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama where she studied viola with Michael Beeston of the Edinburgh String Quartet. Having left college in 1991 Heather started teaching violin and viola in schools within Renfrewshire but soon left to pursue a orchestral career in Portugal where she worked for L'orquestra do Norte. On her return to Scotland Heather continued playing, working for the Scottish Ballet and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra with whom she toured and performed at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Prom Series.  In 1996 Heather was asked to assist Hilary Phillips with her Colourstrings classes and was so inspired that she started training as a Colourstrings teacher. This training started in Hungary, the home of Kodaly, where she was able to visit kindergartens, schools and conservatoires to observe the effects of Kodaly's teaching which has been so well established in Hungary. She then continued her training in London under Deborah Harris (North London Colourstrings School) Karen McKenzie (Kent Music School) and Mark Schneider (Denmark) and finally she trained in Colourstrings violin with Dr Géza Szilvay, the founder of Colourstrings.
